Patrick White St Andrew's Anglican College (Peregian Springs) Urban Detachment Digital photography 140 x 62 x 2 cm Urban Detachment explores the experience of isolation despite living within an urban context with a high population density. Images of urban places, devoid of life, have been used to create surreal surroundings and a sense of alienation. Urban Detachment presents photographs with a dreamlike quality that evoke emotions relating to derealisation and depersonalisation. Ebony Wilmott Brisbane State High School Green with Envy Acrylic on canvas 40 x 40 x 3 cm This artwork highlights the jealousy that underpinned my relationship with my new little brother. Prior to his birth I had been an only child for 11 years. As the title suggests, Green with Envy explores emotions of envy, anger and sadness at having to share my mum with this alien creature. Through the use of a cool colour palette and positioning my brother Isaac facing away from the viewer, I aim to create an emotional distance, similar to what I felt towards him when he was born, through my body of work.
