Sarah Elliot Cleveland District State High School Vitality Fine-tipped pens, acrylic paint and markers 60 x 80 x 2 cm My work seeks to describe the relationship between death and life through my own perspective as a female. The line work, shape and colour are suggestive of a female uterus, and I aimed to illustrate the capacity which this space has to produce new life. This medium allowed me to explore in detail the depth, beauty and intricacy of this complex system. I explored the relationship between life and death through my own contemporary context and was motivated by issues surrounding female sexuality and our capacity to have children. Vitality means the power or capacity of giving life. Isabella Goddard Noosa District State High School Open Up Digital collage 34 x 172 x 5 cm My artwork is derived from my experience in chair-side dentistry when I was doing my school-based traineeship as a dental assistant. I created an extended body of work to articulate, accentuate and introduce the surface areas of each mouth, teeth, soft tissue and the outline of the lips. This work is one part of an extended body of work, where I explored ways of representing the mouths of individual friends. It is meant to be understood both literally and metaphorically. Olivia Harwood Rockhampton Girls Grammar School Mountain Memories Mixed media work including printmaking, watercolour, collage and stitching 17 x 140 x 3 cm Mountain Memories is a seven-piece mixed media work exploring my childhood memories at the Bunya Mountains. Each year my family spent a week up at the Bunya Mountains. I knew I wanted to do something that explored the wonderful memories I had up there in the clouds. The stitching throughout the pieces binds my work together and allowed me to identify with the works, which simultaneously represents an extension of myself. This piece has multiple layers including collaged etchings, watercolour sections, and a perspex etching plate holding it all together. Although the memories are fading, the essence of the experiences forever exist.
