Georgia Hayley Tully State High School Perception Polypropylene 130 x 67 x 200 cm ‘All we are is the result of what we have thought’ – Buddha. Perception was inspired by the works of Hermann Rorschach (‘Rorschach Inkblot Test’), who developed a projective psychological test used in clinical psychology as a diagnostic assessment of personality traits and emotional tendencies. Although the designs replicated in my artwork are representative of the traditional testing cards, the size and interaction alters perception. The seven blots reflect the main sections of the brain — the temporal lobe, frontal lobe, parietal lobe and occipital lobes, and within them, the lateral and central sulcus, and the cerebellum. Tajuddin Hennessy Kelvin Grove State College Microbeads Digitally enhanced photogram on gloss polymer 100 x 78 x 5 cm Microbeads symbolically represents the challenge of the negative environmental impacts caused by human consumption of plastics, specifically microbeads and the destructive impact they have on our waterways and precious ocean environment. The symbolism created through literally exposing actual gladwrap and beads as part of the darkroom photogram process enhances the real nature of each element and focuses our attention on the ephemeral nature of life in our oceans. Penny Kent Mary MacKillop College (Nundah) Fellow Feeling Air-drying clay, wire, acrylic paint, glue, assorted fabric, alcohol- based markers and plaster 30 x 45 x 10 cm Marginalised communities in Western society are often ignored by those more privileged. We walk past people who are less fortunate in ignorance of their life story and how exactly they got to where they are now. Fellow Feeling calls upon the audience to look closer at ‘stereotypical’ characters and empathise with their situation. The grotesque figures — made of roughly melded air-drying clay — emit sorrow, struggle and utter sadness. Their small stature helps us to look at the ‘people’ more subjectively and empathise easier with each hypothetical story.
