Zoe Mackay Tully State High School P.U.L.S.E. Digital photos 42 x 160 x 2 cm “Life isn’t measured in minutes, but in heartbeats” – Joan Lowery Nixon. A heartbeat is constantly present through the duration of our life. In fact, it is the very definition of life. In P.U.L.S.E , a white heartbeat travels through the centre of each picture. The white colour was used to represent the strength of a heartbeat, and life force. The walking figure on the heartbeat moves along the heartbeat from one image to another. The aerial view isolates the figure in the vast surroundings as it travels through life. P.U.L.S.E represents that life is measured in heartbeats. Aimee Maddox Emerald State High School Fragments Single channel digital video: 5:35 minutes, sound, colour My passion for creating short films and videos over the last few years has become a part of who I am. In this artwork, I show this through the concept of ‘essence of self’. This particular work comes under a personal context, relating every aspect of the piece back to my own self and feelings towards my older creations. I sought to make the viewer feel the similar sense of nostalgia that I have towards my earlier films, which was done by incorporating a variety of VCR and glitch effects. Stephanie McDougall St Patrick's College Townsville Four Collagraphic prints 87 x 42 x 126 cm Four is a series of prints that I made examining the surface of golf balls. Through these images I wanted to explore gender, and gender stereotypes. I myself am a keen golfer, but there is still some strong gender association with some sports, and in particular the idea that 'men' play golf. The golf balls themselves are quite decorative and became like mini landscapes or worlds. I wanted to explore the notion of femininity by using the imagery of golf balls to create pattern and suggest a decorative element.
